This trail starts at the north side of the Echo parking lot. The hike is uphill for about 2.5 miles. About 2/3rds of the way you will get a flat area break, for about 150 feet. The trail is clearly marked all the way, as it is a very popular hiking trail. The trail begins as a wide forest road that leads to a water well. Follow the road and continue into the forest past the well. At the end of the trail you will find a wood sign and a boulder. From there, you can continue on 2 other trails. I will post more information as it becomes available.
Directions: from Las Vegas, take US 95 North to Hwy 157. Follow Hwy 157 up the mountain, past the Mt Charleston Lodge and past the Old Town. As the road curves to the left, just past the Old Town, you continue straight into Echo subdivision. Follow the road until you will see the parking lot on the left. Park toward the north side, because that is where Trail Canyon begins.
Note: There are brushes installed at the trail head, to clean your shoes as you proceed on the trail. There is a posted note indicating that you must clean your shoes prior to going on the trail to avoid unwanted weed seeds entering the forest. However, I noticed that people wiped their shoes as they were leaving the trail.
